Mdina

A Historical tour of the ancient Capital - MELITA as the Romans called it, renamed MDINA (MEDINA) - central point, by the  Arabs.  The city which was later called 'Citta Notabile' by the Spanish Sovereign, withheld its 'Capital' status until Valletta the new city was built between 1566 - 1572.

The 'Mdina Experience Show' is included in this tour, which will bring the city walls back to life.

The ROMAN VILLA once formed part of the old Roman fortification 'Melita' and is reputed to have been the house of a rich Roman merchant.  Today it's a museum department and reflects the richness of the Roman occupation in Malta (216 B.C - 470 A.D).  One can admire a comprehensive display of Roman antiquities including fine mosaic, amphoras, glass containers and marble busts.

Boschetto Gardens - a lush little forest of citrus and pine trees spread out beneath Verdala Castle built by Grand Master Cardinal Ugo de Verdallw in 1586.  The Grand Masters used the forest as a hunting and pleasure ground.  Deer hunting was a common practice.

Dingli Cliffs - The Gateway to Africa.  These cliffs are sheer and spectacular.  They overlook a large expanse of rich soil and orchard trees, the shimmering sea and the islet of FILFLA - a bird sanctuary protected by law.
